The Midwinter Visit to the Cemetery Creek

About once a winter I have to check in on the creek in the cemetery. When there is snow and ice, I can't get down there, and there is now a tree down along my trail that is too big for me to deal with, so it's hard to walk that section any more anyway.

The sun was shining. That's always a plus, even though the little snow we've had is melting away. I think our ski outing on Saturday might be a hike instead.

In the sun, the dry leaves catch the light and almost make it difficult to see the creek. But it's there.

I guess that's how I feel about the creek. I know it's there whenever I need to visit. I feel that way about some people too. I may not see them often, but I know they are there, and I feel supported.

I love creeks, and flowing water. I miss them here in Cyprus. Imagine my joy when I noticed a small brook at the bottom of my lane, a few years ago. The villagers had dumped rubbish, and as I cleared it, water started trickling through a drainpipe from under the small pathway. A quick visit to the president of the village to warn him that houses might have been built upon an old riverbed, confirmed my fears. This year they diverted the flow, and I now have a flowing creek to visit! The frogs will love it in the summer if it doesn't dry up too much. Now I walk by with the dogs, and enjoy it, although I have noted the lazy Cypriots are still throwing in rubbish. I just clear it away, no one will ruin my joy of flowing water. :D

Happy New Year, Joan.

Love today's story Shark. It is so true that knowing that people or things are there can be comforting even if if you don't see them all that often.

Looking out at the flooded Louisiana surroundings, the lovely creek with a dusting of snow on the banks is a pick-me-up this evening. But I do like the seventy degree temps!

Wow- Thanks for these comments! I never thought that silly little post would make you so happy. But I'm glad you like the creek too.
