Bristol Hills Branch Trail - Day 1

  Today, we started hiking the Bristol Hills Branch of the Finger Lakes Trail. It generally runs north-south west of Canandaigua Lake till it meets the main trail near Mitchellsville. It's about 55 miles, plus a small loop we want to add. This is one valley west of Canandaigua Lake. As you can see there are gorgeous steep-sided valleys. Bristol Hills Branch Trail And, we got to walk today with two of my favorite people. Dan and Ruth are two more of the few people who have hiked the entire North Country Trail. They live near here and joined us. hikers We saw a doe with twin fawns. Passing by a beaver pond. There were several swarms of whirlygig beetles. Bristol Hills trail 6.1 miles total. A wonderful day! It was predicted to rain in the afternoon, but it never did, and although it was warm it wasn't unbearably hot.
